Each year, GOGI will pay tribute to up to four (four) or more outstanding women based on the following – her overall excellence, achievements and innovative leadership. GOGI recognizes the impact of her contribution to her organization, community (civic and social causes), industry, and the economy. Through this process, the important role that women play in today’s organizations and how they inspire a new generation of women is highlighted.
Criteria for selecting the recipient(s) include two or more of the following:
- The nominee’s achievements reflect her initiative in promoting the cause of women and girls.
- The nominee is from either the government or private sector.
- The nominee is working to assist society to respect learning and knowledge.
- The nominee must exhibit leadership qualities through service (civic and social).
- The nominee motivates and encourages women to enter professional and leadership positions through mentoring.
- The nominee displays leadership: vision, innovation, creativity and/or the courage to take risks.
- The nominee provides inspiration and motivation to others.
- The nominee enriches and improves the quality of life of others particularly women.
- The nominee must be willing to assist GOGI to achieve its goals and objectives as and when needed.
The Woman of Distinction Awards Ceremony not only honors excellence, but also ingenuity and the ability to overcome barriers that still exist for women. Women selected for this honor represent a number of different professional fields and the diversity of personal characteristics and life experiences of women.
How do I Nominate a Woman of Distinction?
To nominate a woman for this award, please complete the attached nomination form and return to GOGI’s president or the GOGI’s PRO.
Each region will nominate one woman for the award (US, Canada, UK and Nigeria).
Nominations for each biennial year award(s) must be received by the Award Committee no later than the dates stipulated by the Award Committee. All nominations must be submitted in written form and must include all the relevant information about the nominees.
How will the Nominees be selected?
The Woman of Distinction Award Committee, which is comprised of some GOGI Executive Board members, will review all nominations. The award recipients will be honored during the biennial GOGI reunion held at the designated venue for that year.
