About Goretti Old Girls International (GOGI)

In 2002, Evelyn Otaigbe (nee Ikuenobe) started an email trail to contact Goretti alumni in Diaspora. The first informal meeting was held in Atlanta, Georgia in 2002 and was attended by Owen Imachukwu (nee Agahahowa), Mediatrix Osayi (nee Idada), Odegua Oboh and Evelyn Otaigbe. In 2007, St. Maria Goretti Old Girls International Inc., was founded by Evelyn Otaigbe and incorporated as anon-profit organization by Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, Mediatrix Osayi, Owen Imachukwu and Evelyn Otaigbe. This group with Nosayaba Adadevoh (nee Enobakhare) formed the “CORE team and planned the first Goretti Old Girls International reunion in Atlanta, Georgia.


Subsequent reunions have brought together GOGI members from around the world, fostering camaraderie and continued commitment to our shared mission.These gatherings have taken place in various cities, including Detroit, Michigan (May 2009), London, UK (July 2011), Chicago, Illinois (July 2013), Houston, Texas (July 2015), Toronto Canada ( July 2017) Manchester Reunion (2019) and most recently, our 2023 reunion took place in Los Angeles, California.

During these biennial reunions, GOGI members elect and approve new executives, ensuring strong leadership and continuity within our organization.

GOGI Yearly Scholarships Award

GOGI has awarded yearly scholarships to students of St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School in Benin City, Nigeria since 2009. Three Senior Secondary School (SSS) students were awarded a total of $1,250 in scholarships in 2009.

Meet Dr. Evelyn Otaigbe PhD, FSM, mni, née (Ikuenobe)

The visionary founder of St. Maria Goretti Old Girls International, a dynamic community of alumnae united by their shared experience at St. Maria Goretti Grammar School in Benin City, Edo State. With a passion for reconnecting and empowering her fellow old girls, Evelyn created this platform to bring together classmates and fellow alumni in the diaspora, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie that transcends geographical boundaries. Through St. Maria Goretti Old Girls International, Evelyn has provided a space for old students to reconnect, share experiences, and support one another in their personal and professional endeavors. Her initiative has not only strengthened bonds among alumnae but also promoted a sense of pride and loyalty to their alma mater. As the founder of this vibrant community, Evelyn's leadership and dedication have been instrumental in nurturing a spirit of sisterhood and collaboration among St. Maria Goretti's global network of old girls.
